How it works
Estimate an Etsy order’s fees, proceeds and profit using your own country, currency and account assumptions. Separate shipping revenue, fee bases, listing allocation, processing and optional advertising so the result can be checked against an order statement.
A few things to know
Not connected to Etsy and does not select regional tariffs automatically. The processing defaults are illustrative. Taxes included in listed revenue must not be added again as tax-base adjustments. Offsite Ads attribution and eligibility, renewals, refunds, VAT on fees, exchange conversion, regulatory charges and account-level costs require actual account data. A zero cap means uncapped math, not absence of Etsy’s policy cap. Income taxes and omitted overhead are excluded.
Results use your inputs. Keep all money amounts in the same currency.
When to use this tool
An Etsy order has several amounts that can look like profit: the customer payment, the amount after platform fees, and the amount left after making and delivering the product. This Etsy fee calculator keeps those stages separate. Enter the fee rates, fixed amounts and tax bases that apply to your own shop so a global audience can model an order without mistaking one country’s tariff for a universal rate.
- Compare product prices after transaction, payment processing and allocated listing costs.
- Check whether an attributed advertising order still covers product and delivery costs.
- Reconcile a sample order statement by adjusting each fee component independently.
How to use etsy fee and net profit calculator
Separate revenue from pass-through tax
Enter discounted item revenue and shipping charged to the customer. Keep remitted tax out of revenue, then use the two additional tax-base fields only when that excluded tax belongs in a fee calculation.
Enter your applicable fees
Replace illustrative processing amounts with your country and currency tariff. Allocate listing fees, set attributed advertising rate and cap when relevant, and add other fees or taxes on fees as a separate amount.
Add the real fulfillment costs
Enter product and packaging cost plus actual shipping cost. Review fee components, net proceeds and modeled profit, then compare the inputs with the actual payment-account statement.
Separating order proceeds from profit
Inputs
Item revenue 50; shipping charged 5; listing allocation 0.20; transaction rate 6.5%; processing 3% plus 0.25; no additional tax bases, ads or other fees; product cost 20; shipping cost 5.
Result
Unrounded fees total 5.675. Displayed fees are 5.68, net proceeds 49.33 and modeled profit 24.33; profit margin is 44.23%.
What it means
The shipping charge is revenue, but the shipping label is a cost. Fee components are calculated without intermediate display rounding, so a provider statement can differ by small rounding amounts.
Common mistakes to avoid
Applying a regional processing default worldwide
Processing rates and fixed amounts are editable assumptions. Verify the seller’s bank country and settlement currency instead of using the example unchanged.
Counting tax twice
Tax already included in retained item revenue must not be added again through a fee-base adjustment. The additional tax fields affect fee bases only and do not increase proceeds.
Treating one listing fee as the whole shop cost
Unsold listings, renewals, subscriptions and advertising may belong to a period rather than a single order. Allocate them deliberately or keep the result labeled as order-level profit.
Frequently asked questions

Are these Etsy fees current for every seller?
No. The calculator is a configurable model and does not detect your location or contract. The example processing rate and fixed amount are illustrative. Use the official policy and your payment-account details to enter the applicable values before relying on a scenario.
Why does shipping appear as both revenue and cost?
Shipping charged to the buyer increases the order revenue, while postage and fulfillment reduce profit. They may be equal, but they are different entries. Keeping them separate also allows the percentage fee calculation to include charged shipping without hiding a shipping subsidy.
How do the tax-base fields work?
They add tax excluded from retained revenue to the relevant fee base. Transaction and advertising share one adjustment; payment processing has its own adjustment. This is useful when fee policies treat tax differently. Enter zero when no additional taxable amount belongs in that base.
Does the calculator automatically identify an Offsite Ads order?
No. Enter zero when no attributed fee applies, or enter the applicable rate for an attributed order. The cap is expressed in your working currency, and zero means this estimate does not apply a cap. Review attribution and policy eligibility separately.
How should I enter listing fees for multiple items?
Enter the total listing-fee allocation relevant to the order, in the same currency as revenue. Consider quantity renewals and your allocation of unsold listings. The calculator subtracts the amount entered once and does not infer the number of listings or renewals.
Is net order proceeds the same as profit?
No. Net proceeds subtract the modeled platform fees from retained order revenue. Modeled profit then subtracts product, packaging and actual shipping costs. Overhead and income taxes remain excluded unless included through a deliberate cost allocation, so neither figure automatically equals accounting net income.
Where do conversion costs and tax on seller fees go?
Enter known amounts in Other fees and tax on fees, using the same working currency. The tool does not fetch exchange rates or calculate VAT. Check whether a statement already includes these expenses before adding them, to avoid deducting the same cost twice.
Why does my statement differ from this estimate?
Review the fee bases, discounts, regional rates, renewals, attributed advertising and taxes on fees. Providers may round each component differently, while this model uses unrounded calculations before display. Refund adjustments and account-level timing also require a statement-based reconciliation rather than a single-order estimate.
