CSV transformation
Check the structure before converting
Separators, quoting and nested values change how data fits into columns. A CSV field can contain a comma or a line break without starting a new cell when it is correctly quoted. A JSON array inside a record needs an explicit export policy. Review the proposed headers and first rows before using a converted file, especially when missing values and explicit nulls have different meanings.
Preserve meaning as well as formatting
Postal codes, product identifiers and account numbers may need to stay text to preserve leading zeroes. Spreadsheet formula protection adds a protective prefix to potentially executable cells, which changes their exported text. List comparison also depends on whether you choose to trim whitespace or ignore case. Pick those rules according to the data rather than assuming that every difference is an error.
Inspect images after compression
A target file size is a byte limit, not a visual quality score. The image compressor measures real encoded output and may reduce dimensions to fit. JPEG removes transparency against a white background; WebP behavior depends on the browser encoder. Check fine text, edges and colors in the preview. Processing limits keep these tools practical in a browser, so very large files may need a desktop or streaming workflow.
Choose the unit definition before converting
Everyday conversions need a clear source unit. A US liquid gallon differs from an Imperial gallon; a gigabyte uses decimal powers of 1000 while a gibibyte uses binary powers of 1024. Temperature conversion includes scale offsets, and fuel consumption in litres per 100 kilometres is the reciprocal of distance per litre. Our converters name these choices, show equivalent values and offer a downloadable table. They do not infer an unknown gallon definition, include variable-length calendar months, or add measurement accuracy by displaying more decimal places.
Common questions
Are files uploaded to a server?
The current utility tools process files in your browser and generate downloads locally. Loading the website still makes ordinary hosting requests. See the privacy page for the separate behavior of live DNS tools.
Can a conversion be lossless?
Some format changes preserve field text, but flattening, numeric parsing, case normalization and image compression can lose information. Each tool explains its supported behavior and offers a preview so you can inspect the result.
