How it works
Decode a supported HEIC/HEIF still image locally with a lazy-loaded decoder and export a JPEG at your chosen quality setting. A bundled HEIC sample exercises the real decoder.
Read the source reference ↗A few things to know
Not all HEIF codecs, HDR/depth data or multi-image containers are supported. Up to 10 MB and 16 million pixels. JPEG loses transparency and auxiliary data; inspect color and orientation. LGPL decoder license and source are listed in third-party notices.
When to use this tool
Convert a supported phone-photo still image without uploading it. A bundled decoder handles HEIC where the browser has no native support.
- Prepare a phone photo for upload.
- Create a compatible still image.
- Test HEIC decoding locally.
How to use heic to jpg converter
Prepare the inputs
Choose an uploaded file or the generated sample.
Choose the settings
Enter dimensions using the source’s decoded pixel coordinates.
Review and export
Inspect the processed preview and download the flattened output.
Try the supplied example
Inputs
source: Generated sample; quality: 90
Result
The example converts the bundled Small Hours HEIC illustration into a real JPEG.
What it means
Inspect the result, especially HDR color and orientation, before replacing your original.

Frequently asked questions
Definitions, edge cases, and practical next steps for this tool. Search all tool FAQs ↗
Is a photo sent to a server?
No. The decoder is bundled locally; the generated sample is a same-origin asset.
Are all HEIF codecs supported?
No. Some files, auxiliary images or newer codec variants may fail.
Is Live Photo motion preserved?
No. The output is a still JPEG.
Is conversion lossless?
No. JPEG re-encoding loses information.
Are HDR and depth preserved?
No. The JPEG output does not preserve those HEIC features.
Why is there a file limit?
Decoding allocates pixels in memory; input and dimension bounds reduce excessive processing.
Are my inputs uploaded or stored?
Processing happens locally in your browser. This tool does not upload inputs. Downloads stay on your device; sharing or opening them in another service is your choice.
What should I check before using the output?
Not all HEIF codecs, HDR/depth data or multi-image containers are supported. Up to 10 MB and 16 million pixels. JPEG loses transparency and auxiliary data; inspect color and orientation. LGPL decoder license and source are listed in third-party notices.
