How it works

Apply explicit solid-black or blurred rectangular patches to a raster image and export a flattened PNG. The original file is not modified.

A few things to know

Blur is not reliable redaction. Solid coverage protects only selected pixels; check all visible information and share only the flattened export. Limits: 25 MB total, 20 images, 16 million pixels per source and output, and 8,192 pixels per side. Files are flattened, metadata is not copied and animations become one frame. JPEG uses a white background for transparency.

A little context

When to use this tool

Cover private image details before sharing an exported copy. Solid replacement is preferable to blur when the content must not remain recognizable.

  • Hide a screenshot detail.
  • Cover private photo content.
  • Create a flattened sharing copy.

How to use manual image blur and redaction

  1. Prepare the inputs

Choose an uploaded file or the generated sample.

  2. Choose the settings

Enter dimensions using the source’s decoded pixel coordinates.

  3. Review and export

Inspect the processed preview and download the flattened output.

Try the numbers

Inputs

source: Generated sample; rectangles: 80,300,900,180; mode: Solid black; radius: 24

Result

The example covers a 900 × 180 region beginning at x=80, y=300 with black pixels.

What it means

Inspect the entire exported file; the unchanged original still contains the private information.

Frequently asked questions

Definitions, edge cases, and practical next steps for this tool. Search all tool FAQs ↗

Is blur secure redaction?

What does solid coverage do?

It replaces the selected output pixels with black.

Is the original modified?

No. Download and share the flattened export only.

Can I cover several areas?

Yes. Supply up to 20 rectangles.

Does this remove metadata?

Original metadata is not copied into the canvas export.

Is everything private automatically found?

No. You choose and verify every sensitive region.

Are my inputs uploaded or stored?
