How it works

Split selected page groups into separate PDFs, or grow sequential parts while measuring serialized bytes against a chosen maximum file size.

A few things to know

File-size mode supports at most 100 pages and cannot compress or divide a single oversized page. Group mode can repeat pages across parts. Unencrypted PDFs only. Input is limited to 25 MB total, 20 files and 200 pages; output to 50 MB. Copying pages does not preserve document-level forms, bookmarks, attachments or signature validity. Inspect the result before use.

A little context

When to use this tool

Split a document by explicit page groups or a measured output-size bound. The size mode preserves page contents rather than pretending to compress them.

  • Fit a document to upload bounds.
  • Separate a packet into parts.
  • Export selected page groups.

How to use pdf splitter by page or file size

Result

The generated sample splits into pages 1–2 and page 3, with a download for each part.

What it means

Check each output’s page list and recorded byte size.

Frequently asked questions

Definitions, edge cases, and practical next steps for this tool. Search all tool FAQs ↗

What does MiB mean?

1,048,576 bytes.

Can a single page be split by size?

No. Increase the limit or compress the document using another process.

How do I specify groups?

Separate groups with semicolons; within a group use page numbers or ascending ranges separated by commas.

Can groups overlap?

Yes. A page can appear in different output parts.

Are output sizes actually measured?

Yes. Serialized PDF bytes are measured and checked in size mode.

Are encrypted PDFs supported?

No. They are rejected.

Are my inputs uploaded or stored?

Processing happens locally in your browser. This tool does not upload inputs. Downloads stay on your device; sharing or opening them in another service is your choice.

Common questions

Where do I start? Try an example, then replace its values with yours.

Why did my upload fail? Check the field error, accepted format and file-size limit. Start with a small sanitized sample.

Where are my results? Review the result panel, then use its copy or download controls. If a calculation fails, check the error beside the input.
