How it works
Parse quoted CSV records into JSON objects or arrays, preserving every value as a string and rejecting ambiguous headers or inconsistent row widths.
Read the source reference ↗A few things to know
No numeric/date/boolean inference. Header names must be unique and nonempty. Limits: UTF-8 input 2 MB, 10,000 rows and 200 columns. Formula-like values are ordinary JSON strings.
When to use this tool
Convert spreadsheet rows to JSON without losing identifiers. Explicit string preservation avoids turning 00123 into 123 or a date into a timestamp.
- Create a small integration payload.
- Preserve product identifiers.
- Inspect spreadsheet data as JSON.
How to use csv to json converter
Prepare the inputs
Paste or upload a valid header-based CSV.
Choose the settings
Choose the delimiter and object or array shape.
Review and export
Inspect and download the JSON; choose downstream types deliberately.
Try the supplied example
Inputs
data: Code,Name 00123,Notebook 00456,Pen; delimiter: comma; shape: Objects
Result
The example exports two objects with Code and Name keys; both codes retain leading zeroes.
What it means
Let the receiving application deliberately choose any later type conversion.

Frequently asked questions
Definitions, edge cases, and practical next steps for this tool. Search all tool FAQs ↗
Are numbers inferred?
No. Every CSV value remains a JSON string.
What happens to duplicate headers?
They are rejected so one value cannot overwrite another object property.
Can CSV values contain line breaks?
Yes, when they use valid CSV quoting.
What does Arrays output contain?
A header array followed by one array per data record.
Does an uploaded file override pasted text?
Yes. Upload one UTF-8 file or clear the file selection to use pasted text.
Are __proto__ keys allowed?
Yes. Object.fromEntries creates an ordinary own property; no prototype assignment is used.
Are my inputs uploaded or stored?
Processing happens locally in your browser. This tool does not upload inputs. Downloads stay on your device; sharing or opening them in another service is your choice.
What should I check before using the output?
No numeric/date/boolean inference. Header names must be unique and nonempty. Limits: UTF-8 input 2 MB, 10,000 rows and 200 columns. Formula-like values are ordinary JSON strings.
